Frequently asked questions

Who are DS Automobiles?

DS Automobiles first launched in 2014 with the aim of promoting a unique French luxury savoir-faire with the creation of each car. Using the highest quality materials to create elegant interiors and sophisticated, futuristic exteriors, the brand currently has a range of models available, from the DS 3 compact SUV to the DS 9 saloon.

Are DS owned by Citroën?

DS officially launched in 2010 as a sub-brand of Citroën. Since then, DS has separated from its Citroën and Peugeot counterparts and repositioned itself as a standalone premium brand. Although DS will always remain alongside other Stellantis models, it will benefit from individual manufacturing and engineering standards.

How reliable are DS cars?

Although DS is a relatively new brand, all you need to do is look inside any DS model to see that each car is made from the highest level of quality materials. The brand also hasn’t appeared out of thin air. As part of the Stellantis group, DS Automobiles benefits from a long history of car manufacturing excellence.

What is e-Remote Control?

e-Remote Control is free to use for new DS electric and plug-in hybrids. This can be used from the MyDS app and has several functions, including:

Vehicle status information
- On the home page, you can find important information about the battery, its charge and estimated remaining range.
Remote charging
- Remotely control and start charging your vehicle once it’s plugged in. You are also able to control a delayed charging time, and you will be sent a notification when the charge reaches 100%.
Remote-controlled heating and cooling
- With remote-controlled heating and cooling you can ensure a comfortable temperature in your vehicle. The e-Remote Control will automatically reach 21°C, and if the vehicle is charging, this feature won’t affect the vehicle’s range. For preconditioning, this will take 45 minutes from the selected time, and once the setting is saved, it will start even without good internet connection. If you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or boot, the preconditioning will stop after one minute. Charging will start once preconditioning ends.

What is Remote Control?

Remote Control is a paid service for new combustion engines, electric and hybrid vehicles, allowing you to control your car remotely from your phone through the MyDS app.

Lock status
- Control the locking of your vehicle by: Dragging the page from top to bottom then clicking the arrow (refresh) in the top-right corner.
Remotely control locking/unlocking
- This allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle remotely. Your car will lock/unlock no longer than eight seconds after your request. This status will be displayed on your app.
Remote-controlled lighting
- With remote-controlled lighting, you can control your warning or side lights remotely, depending on your vehicle. The app will indicate the status of this, showing the request is ongoing and then for 10 seconds that the lights are on.
Remotely control the horn
- Remote control even allows you to control the horn remotely with buttons in the app.
